To gain the Apprenticeship the learner will work towards the following qualifications:
- AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting
- Key Skills in Application of Number Level 1
- Key Skills in Communication Level 1
Achievement of the Apprenticeship is expected to take 12 months as it is important for the trainee to gain real work place experience whilst completing the AAT Qualification and Key Skills elements.
The Advanced Apprenticeship includes the following elements:
- AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting
- Level 2 Key Skill in Application of number
- Level 2 Key Skill in Communication
At Level 3, topics include the finance officer processes including preparing final accounts for partnerships and sole traders, cash management, trial balances, providing cost and revenue information, VAT returns, spreadsheets and aspects of professional ethics in accounting and finance.
The units of study include:
- Accounts preparation I
- Accounts preparation II
- Cash management
- Costs and revenues
- Indirect tax
- Spreadsheets software (a Computer based project)
- Professional ethics in accounting and finance
